'HOUSE AS HOME' PANEL DISCUSSION

  • The Footlight 465 Seneca Avenue Ridgewood, NY 11385 (map)
Dana Robinson, Lost Monuments, 2015

Dana Robinson, Lost Monuments, 2015

Please join Gloria’s Dream House artist Dana Robinson for a panel discussion Élan Cadiz Ferguson, Joselia “Jo” Hughes, Clara Lazarre, and Anh Thuy Nguyen about the different ways they conceive of home and how those ideas influence their work.

Perhaps you consider home to be the country where you were born, the city where you grew up, the neighborhood where you currently live or someplace else entirely. The panelists will discuss how they define home, negotiate having a point of origin different from where they live now, and face interrogation by others: "Where are you from?" and the pernicious follow-up, "No, where are you really from?"

Dream House is curated by Kate Gavriel and features work by Karen Lederer, Caitlin MacBride, Dana Robinson, Polly Shindler, Zac Thompson, Joshua Caleb Weibley, and Crys Yin. Gloria’s is conveniently located across the street from The Footlight and we encourage you to visit the show prior to the discussion. Dream House is on view by appointment through Sunday, March 3rd.

As always, Gloria’s is proud to partner with our favorite neighborhood bar The Footlight, conveniently located across the street from Gloria’s at 465 Seneca Ave. Food will be available for purchase from Valentine's, prepared with ingredients from local Ridgewood businesses. To RSVP and to become a Gloria’s member, please visit our WithFriends page.
